I 92 . Production of Phoenicine on Synthetic Media
نویسنده
چکیده
PENICILLIUM PHOENICEUM, representative of Thom's classification of Monoverticillata ramigena, produces a red pigment, phoenicine, which, being watersoluble, diffuses almost entirely into the medium. Its catalytic function in the respiration of living cells and certain of its properties were first described by Friedheim [1933]. The constitution, viz. 2:2'-dihydroxy-4:4'-ditoluquinone, was established by Posternak [1938]. Friedheim states that phoenicine is produced by old cultures of the organism, grown on beerwort. On this medium the pigment does not appear until after the formation of the green conidia, but a further statement establishes the fact that phoenicine is formed at the outset, when the mould is cultured on media rich in carbohydrates. P. phoeniceum, which does not appear to have been previously grown on sugar media, was therefore inoculated on synthetic media containing 5 % glucose, of which three were chosen, viz. acid Czapek-Dox, Raulin-Thom and Raulin-Dierckx, a neutral medium.

Evaluation of different growth media for tomato seedlings to optimize production and water use
ABSTRACT- Soilless cultivation systems are used to attain higher performance, improve crop quality, conserve water and land, and protect the environment better. This study has attempted to use some agricultural wastes and organic matter, and management practices to optimize water holding capacity of cultural media, which are suitable for the growth of tomato seedlings (Solanum lycopersicum.). F...
متن کاملThe Study on Microbial Polymers: Pullulan and PHB
Microbial cells are producers of natural polymers present in plant cells. Production of pullulan (an extracellular microbial polysaccharide) by Aureobasidium pullularia pullulans (P. pullulans) was studied under fermentation conditions, and kinetic parameters were determined. Pullulan formation obeyed a growth and non-growth associated term. PHB (polyhydroxybutyrates) an intracellular biopo...
متن کاملEffects of organic and inorganic amendments on weed management in sweet maize
Field experiments were conducted to determine the effects of organic andinorganic amendments on weed suppression in sweet maize cultivation (Zea maysL.). A randomized complete block design was employed with four replicates pertreatment with each organic amendment used at half (x/2), single (x=10 t ha-1) anddouble (2x) rates (organic fertilization: cow manure, poultry manure and barleymulch; syn...
متن کاملChallenging for Expression Bovine Rotavirus (RF Strain) Full-Length VP7 Protein in Prokaryotic System
Background and Aims: Rotavirus enteritis is an acute viral infectious disease among infants. VP7 protein has a key role in attachment and entry virus into the target cell. The VP7 protein is involved in inducing the production of neutralizing antibodies that protect infants against reinfection of the virus. The aim of this study was to heterologous expression of the VP7 gene of bovine rotavirus...
متن کاملExperimental Evaluation of Batch and Continuous Production of Baker’s Yeast under Computer Controlled pH
Steady state and dynamic fermentations of baker's yeast in molasses based media were analyzed in a laboratory scale bioreactor. Sugar and biomass balances together with the Monod biokinetics were used to develop the process model. Parameters of the model were obtained using collected experimental data. Model predicted open loop responses to step changes in feed concentration as well as dilu...
